You Are Everything To Me

Beloved Son of God, I am called to be a disciple and I truly want to live my life as one.  To be a true follower, I must make You the center of my life … but what does that actually entail?  I believe it involves putting You first and everything else second.  It means putting aside my wants and desires to make Yours my own.  I can no longer devote my life to seeking power, pleasure, comfort and recognition.  I must be willing to surrender control of my life to You … accept my call without reservation … and, renew my mind through gaining proficiency in Your Word.  I cannot be ashamed to share Your message with others or You will be ashamed of me.  I must become open to the leading of the Holy Spirit and go wherever He leads me.  The sooner I realize You are not a genie in a bottle, but my Savior and King … to whom I owe everything … then I can begin to be transformed into Your image.

To advance in my spiritual growth and maturity, I must make the decision to make You the most important thing in my life.  I must be willing to put aside my agenda in order to carry out Yours.  The best place for me to start my journey to put You on the Throne of my Life is at the foot of Your cross.  There, I can focus on how much You love me … which You demonstrated by the suffering You endured to make me free.  I must ask myself, was Your suffering deserving of anything but my best in service to You?  Or, can I take it for granted since I didn’t have to go through it?  Or, is it less important to my future than what I want?  At the foot of the cross, I am able to see how wonderful and caring You are.  My well-being was a major concern of Yours as You hung on the cross.  Your last words, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”, tells me all I need to know about Your forgiving heart.

The most important choice I can ever make is asking You to become the Lord of my life.  In Your Word You describe Yourself as the Alpha and Omega … the beginning and the end … of existence, wisdom and power.  I must acknowledge and accept You as the Ruler of my past, present and future.  Without You there is nothing that is eternal, nothing that can change my life and nothing that can save me from myself.  I can no longer be faint hearted by doubting, questioning or turning from You.  You have called me to be brave and stand firm in my faith when I face difficulties … to be humble and accept Your authority and guidance … to endure whatever testing and trials I encounter in Your strength … and, strive to remain faithful to You as I go through my day.  I have put You in the center of my life because I want to be one with You and serve You in whatever way I can.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and Omega” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
