You Are So Awesome

O Most High, how majestic is Your name in all the earth. You created the universe with Your power, might and authority. Even small children seem to understand that You are worthy of honor and praise. When I stop to consider the magnitude of Your creation I am struck with awe. With Your hands You hung the moon, the stars, and the planets in the sky. You created the earth and everything in it. You created the oceans and all that dwell in them. You made man a little lower than the angels and gave him custody of the Garden of Eden. In our weakness, we fell because of disobedience and were evicted from the garden to roam the earth carrying the stain of that first sin. Ever since, the Devil has hounded men with the goal of further separating them from You. I am thankful that You had a backup plan to send Your Son to be our Redeemer and the One to renew our relationship with You.

Make me like a small child who can trust and praise You without doubts or reservations. For as I grow older, it becomes more and more difficult to manage my life. Impart to me the faith that removes barriers which separate me from a closer walk with You. I want to go deeper into a relationship with You so I can draw upon Your power and love in overcoming evil. To better grasp Your awesomeness, I need only look at my stature as it compares to You and Your creation. To see how small I am is a healthy way to grasp reality and assume the humbleness I need in dealing with the circumstances and people in my life. It is a step toward holiness that gets me past my selfishness and guides me to unselfishness. Humility gives me a proper respect for You and is not seeing myself as worthless. In humility I realize that the success of everything I do must have You at its center.

When I think of all that was involved in the creation and all that is involved in holding it all together, I stand in awe of You and Your abilities. It amazes me that You can be concerned with me who constantly disappoints You. The evidence of Your care for me is the fact You sent Your Son to die for my sins and left the Holy Spirit to guide me from this life into the next. Giving me a natural life and a mission while I am here tells me that I do have value to You. Because You are my Maker, I know that You do not “make junk.” I choose to make a mess of my life when I take out on my own without You. With the authority that You gave to man to maintain the earth comes a great responsibility because to whom much is given much is expected. I must come to realize that I have a large stake in the future and with it comes the acknowledgement that I serve an awesome God. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Psalm 33:8 Let all the earth stand in awe of the Lord, let all the people of the world revere Him.
