Most Awesome God, throughout the ages You have done wondrous and marvelous things to accomplish what You wanted to achieve. In the beginning, You created the sky, the water, the land and everything that filled them in order to show us the power of Your words … and You did it Your way. When the world grew corrupt and would not adhere to Your will or Your ways, You filled an Ark with eight good people and two of every other kind in order to manifest Your justice … and You did it Your way. When Your people were held captive by the Egyptians and forced into slavery, they cried out to You for deliverance, and You sent them Moses to lead them out of captivity … and You did it Your way. After Your people crossed the Red Sea on dry ground and meandered in the desert for forty years, You gave them a leader to take them into the promised land as You had promised … and You did it Your way.
When You saw that man could not save himself, You chose a virgin to bring forth a Redeemer … and You did it Your way. As Your Son matured and began His ministry on earth, You picked out twelve men who would sustain His work … and You did it Your way. When the time for Him to become the perfect offering, You willingly allowed Him to be sacrificed to save us from our sins to show us Your mercy … and You did it Your way. When You commanded those who would follow Him to go into all the world with a mission of reaching out to the lost, You sent down the Holy Spirit in a special manifestation … and You did it Your way. And when the new church needed a leader to spread Your Word throughout the world, You struck down a devout Jew who hated Christians and sent him to the Gentiles to spread the message of Your love … and You did it Your way.
When You gave me life, plotted a course for me to follow and called me to Yourself … You did it Your way. Now I have choices to make … good or evil … self or selflessness … holy or as a filthy rag … Your way or my way. As I travel the road of my life, I trust that You will be with me and, if I drift away, You will bring me back to Yourself … doing it Your way. To divorce my flesh from controlling my life and yielding it to You … I ask that You do it Your way. The Holy Spirit and Your Word are my teachers so that I do not become a hearer only, but a doer. What I must understand is that if I want to live my life in prosperity … filled with hope … feeling complete … I must yield to doing things Your way. When I do that, I will become an overcomer, covered by Your protection, filled with Your power, and accomplishing good things which please You. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
