You Have Called My Name

My Righteous King, You have called me to come and follow You. You invited and I responded. The question I am left with is where do I go to be where You want me to be and become what You want me to become? I want to be a light shining forth Your love to those who are hurting and feel alone. I want Your life to be grown in me so that I can boldly share You with everyone I meet. Your calling asked me to leave my selfish ways behind and walk as You walked. You asked me to treat others the way I want to be treated … and that includes those who are cruel and unkind. I must make myself vulnerable to show others how vulnerable You made Yourself for their sake. I often ask You in prayer to intervene on my behalf. I want to be someone’s answer to their prayer to You. In moving forward, I must trust that You will never ask me to do anything that is not within my abilities to handle.

My life is so full that sometimes I find it hard to turn and follow Your call. Help me maintain balance in my life and never leave You out of it. Things I must do are important, but not more important than my relationship with You. Whether I want to be a teacher or not is irrelevant. Others see what I do and emulate my behaviors … particularly kids. My ways should not reflect the world’s standards and beliefs, instead, reflect the depth of Your love and commitment to people’s lives. In Your presence I am surrounded with love and caring, and this is what I must emulate. My desire is to move and live and grow into becoming more like You. Since encountering You in a deeper way, my life will never be the same … purged and purified … changed and not the same … selfish now unselfish … stingy but now generous. I am becoming so much better because of Your calling.

You have become the center of my life. My heart’s desire is to always praise You and always serve You. You are the One who keeps me safe and fills me with joy. I will seek Your counsel in all things because Your ways are so much better than the ones I can conceive. I will forever follow Your light which guides me in paths of righteousness right into Your heart. When I face adversity, I know I can stand firm on my belief in You. Within Your calling is not only doing, but there is rest. A rest that comes from knowing the load is not mine to carry alone and accepting that not everything is for me to do. You are the strong foundation upon which I am building my life and I am assured it will not crumble beneath me. I am confident that Your calling will put me on a path of life that You want me to travel. I am also assured that Your calling comes with all the tools I need to succeed. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
