O Bright Shining Star, You are the light of the world. Send forth Your light and truth to guide me to the place where I belong. My calling is to serve You and those who You send me to. I need Your wisdom to show me how to go about doing good and being a good example. Whenever I become frustrated or troubled, it is Your light that helps me find the solution I need. Draw near to me so that I can find the confidence I need to act in Your best interest. Help me never forget that You alone are my Redeemer and it’s Your suffering and blood that has set me free from the power of sin and death to live for You. When I partake of Your body, my hunger for restoration is satisfied … and, when I drink of Your blood, my thirst for right standing is quenched. I am encouraged to know that You are not a respecter of persons and offer all men a light that enables them to see the way they are to go.
My desire is for Your words acting as a light convicting me of my sins, showing me the right way to live and guiding me to the place where I belong. Your light is like the bright beam of a light house shining into the darkness showing the way to a safe harbor. To help me see with my eyes wide open, I am counting on the Holy Spirit to bring clarity and focus to the words You speak. You’ve promised that if I’d commit to searching Your Word for truth and knowledge I’d be set free to live as You did. A large part of my life has been spent in darkness but, since committing my life You, spiritual things have become easier for me to comprehend. You are the Lamb Slain for the World and Your sacrifice sends out a steady beam of light inviting all to come into the safety and love of Your open arms. I’ve come to realize that Your light is essential to my succeeding in life.
In the same way that the sun rises to illuminate the earth each day, so does the glow of Your love illuminate my life. I am thankful that You have taken on a life-long project of guiding me to the places where I belong. I’ve seen those who shun You stumble and wander about aimlessly. They grope around in their self-delusion and stagger about like a drunkard. To those who listen to Your counsel, You expose the craftiness of their enemies and help them overcome evil with good. When I rebel against You, my life quickly fills with clouds of confusion and evil sneaks in to steal all that You’ve given to me. I am thankful that each day You maintain a perpetual watch over me and Your light shows me a better way. I am convinced that I will prosper when I count on You to provide me with a guiding light for my life. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
