Your Directions Are The Best

O God of All Wisdom, as I travel through life, I often find myself at cross-roads where I need Your wisdom in making my decisions.  As I encounter detours, I need Your guidance all the more.  Only through Your guidance and perseverance can I get to positive outcomes.  Without the benefit of Your input, I am unsure that I will be able to go the distance and exercise the patience I need to deal with my problems and issues appropriately.  I can never lose sight of the fact that Your direction is always the best.  I must lead a life of humility in order to admit that a U-turn is in order.  Help me keep my eyes on the road I am traveling.  Asking myself … Is this the right road … Where is it leading … is it the one that accomplishes what You want to happen in my life … Is there enough of You in it?  Life presents me with decision after decision and I want to make good choices in responding to them.

I guess an important question I must answer is “Where do I want to go?”  In feeling my way through life, I must stop when I come to an intersection … consider my options prayerfully … seek Your insight and guidance … search the Bible for answers … and, ultimately ask myself “what is the good and God-pleasing way I should proceed?”  I must never shy away from trusting You to have my best interests in mind and that Your guidance is always “spot on.”  I need to feel Your presence with me in my decision making so that I can move forward in confidence and peace.  Since most of my decisions pop up quickly and do not leave me a lot of time to pause and reflect for very long, it is important that I stay close and plugged-in to You.  Wondering off on my own only leads me to poor decisions and consequences I do not like.  It is like walking through a mine field.

By spending regular time in Your Word, learning from other Christians and making prayer a regular part of each day will better prepare me to react to my circumstances in appropriate ways when quick decisions are needed.  Along the way, I’ve come to trust that the Holy Spirit is shaping my thought processes … opening my mind to ways that are not always comfortable … and, helping guide me through the rough terrain in my life.  Help me resist taking the easy, convenient way.  There is always the temptation to follow the crowd or take the non-confrontational path which only steers me around a problem and does not solve it.  In Your love for me and desire to be obedient to Your Father, You made the choice to respond to Your calling even though it involved much pain and suffering.  Help me be more like You and accept the fact that Your directions are always best.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Psalm 32:8  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.
