My Devoted Defender, You have assured me that if I choose to place myself under Your guardianship, You will protect me with all of Your power. I have come to believe, with all my heart, that You are my refuge and fortress in whom I can trust. You have become my shelter from the storms of adversity and the threats of my enemies. As my protector, I rely on You to get me through my dangerous encounters and the demons I face. What You ask of me is to trade my fears for faith in You no matter how intense my feelings of fear become. By entrusting myself to You, I believe that You will keep me safe from every ordeal that I face. As my protector, You keep me safe from harm and have built a hedge of protection around me to keep my enemies away. Your faithfulness is like a shield deflecting the fiery darts of my enemy. I am comforted by Your promise to be with me whenever I face trouble.
In the same way that fear strives to use the night and darkness to cause me to imagine dangers that are not real, Your light shines to show me that there is no danger where You are. Not only do You watch over me, but You assign angels to keep guard to insure that I am kept safe. It is comforting to know that You assign helpers to watch over me so that when I face my greatest struggles with fear, they are there to protect me. As I maintain my trust in You, I have every assurance that You will cover me and prevent any disaster from overtaking me. Even though I stumble through unfortunate circumstances, I believe You will never forsake me or let me fall so low that I cannot get up. Since I believe that You do love me, I know You will protect me and come to my rescue whenever I have a need. Whatever trouble I face, I am confident that You will deliver me and meet my every need.
I am thankful that You’ve offered me an invitation to come to You with any trouble I face. Your call goes out to all who are weary and burdened or facing worry and fear … and You promise them all rest. The heavy burdens you speak of includes: fear of the unknown, excessive demands, trying to change things I cannot change and succumbing to the lures of temptation. The Good News is that You will shield me from any harm and lift the burden from off my back. Because of Your protection and shelter, I am able to find peace and rest for my body, mind and soul. In You, I find love, healing, a place of belonging, freedom and hope. A relationship with You changes meaningless, tiresome struggles into calming, settling experience. For all of these reasons, I find myself running to You for protection whenever fear and dread approach. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
Psalm 91:4 He will cover you with His wings and under them you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be Your shield and rampart.
