Bearing Burdens

Most Supportive One, if I merely do good to please others or make a showing to them, I reap nothing and become a “people pleaser”. I must learn to set aside “self-pleasure” for the sake of building up others for good. My Christian convictions must be what motivates me to deal righteously with my own burdens and those of others. I must be willing to do what You did by following Your example. I must learn Your ways of dealing with my problems which in turn will help me aid others in dealing with theirs. I should never weary from doing the right things … it is my calling. It can become discouraging when I do not see a quick resolution or do not receive thanks. Regardless, Your calling challenges me to keep doing good and trust You for the right outcomes. In due time, the seeds of patience, perseverance, kindness and caring that I plant will produce an abundant harvest of good.

Immature Christians act in accordance with the ways of the world … meeting their own desires and the expectations of others. Mature believers are more in tune with Your desires and are moved to action when You call on them. The desire of my heart is to change my life for the better and improve the life of others by showing them Your ways. I know that You are aware of everything going on in my life … whether it is what I do, the thoughts I entertain or the things that motivate me. The main goal You have for my life is the elimination of sin and developing the ability to deal with adversity successfully. However, in grappling with my personal issues, You do not want me to forget helping others. In reaching out, my priority needs to be the family of believers. Because of Your aid, my load has been lightened and my burdens made bearable. It is now my turn to do the same for others.

No Christian should ever think that he or she is totally independent and never will need help from others. And no one should ever feel excused from the duty of helping others. The Body of Christ – the church – functions best when its members work together for the common good. This includes good works, correction, and encouragement. As Your child, I should humbly and gently reach out to those who need a helping hand. I cannot lose sight of the fact that I reap what I sow. I should be consoled in the fact that You do not ignore those who depend on You and reward those who respond to Your instructions. At any time I can be a beneficiary of Your benevolence and at another I can be a benefactor of Your grace. With Your help, I know I can be successful in bearing burdens … my own and those of others. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for Your souls. For my yoke is sweet and my burden is light.
