Blessed By Your Mercy

O Benevolent God, I give You praise because of the loving mercy that You have shown me … and, for which I am unworthy and undeserving.  It was in compassion that You were moved to provide me with a Savior to redeem me from my sins and Hell.  Through Your mercy, I have been released from suffering and disappointment.  And You have pardoned me from the penalties of my sins and sorrow.  I have come to understand that it is Your love which motivates You to share the good things that You share with me.  In my times of weakness and confusion, You are moved to show me kindness and give me strength so I can endure the trial I am going through.  Without You and Your love, my life is desolate, empty and hopeless.  In Your clemency, You do not overlook my shortcomings but You do forgive me and wash away the stains of sin from my soul.

In my service to You, I have learned that Your love and mercy could not freely operate on my behalf until a sufficient sacrifice was made for my sins.  It is the sacrifice that You made for me that has freed me from the power of sin and darkness and allows You to act generously on my behalf through Your grace.  Therefore I see mercy as the fruit of Your grace.  And Your grace, coupled with forgiveness, abound toward me because of my belief in You as my Savior.  Through Your grace and forbearance, I am given a place of safety and rest as I submit my life to You and walk in Your ways.  I am the beneficiary of Your loving kindness and goodness because You always act in my best interests … whether I deserve it or not.  You dispense Your mercy generously to me because of Your abounding love by which I have been given new life through the sacrifices made on my behalf.

Because of the clemency You’ve shown toward me, You’ve made it clear that Your desire is for me be forgiving of others.  And, I must never forget that Your promise to be merciful to me is based on my showing mercy to others.  Your call on my life demands that I be just, merciful and trust worthy in my dealings with my fellow man.  As I increase in Your Wisdom, I know that You will show me how to walk uprightly, become peace-loving and fill my life with tender kindness by acting impartially with all.  In order to share in Your goodness, I must learn to take heed of Your instructions and obey Your commandments.  If I reject Your teachings, I reject all of the benefits that they offer.  In order to reap the blessing of Your kindness, I must dispense mercy liberally and walk humbly in Your sight.  O how I rejoice in the blessedness of Your mercy and my ability to walk in the newness of life You’ve given me.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Matthew 9:13 But go and learn what this means:  I desire mercy, not sacrifice.  For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
