Most Cherished Lord, I know that because of Your deep and abiding love that You have for Your people You want them to maintain a close relationship with you. Because of Your love You walked in the Garden with Adam and Eve and forgave them when they disobeyed … You chose the Jewish people to be Your very own even though they strayed and disobeyed … You died on a cross to set all men free from the power of sin and eternal death knowing that some would reject Your offer. These things show me how much You wanted Your people to join in relationship with You. These are some of the examples that You show me so that I will have a close relationship with You. Your Word tells me that it is the primary way that You communicate with me and as I meditate on it light comes into my life. You were the seed that died so I could be reborn. You are my manna sent from Heaven to feed my hungry soul.
In drawing near to You, I see truths that set me free and others that show me the way to overcoming. You are the very life that courses through my body and gives me a reason to live. It is through a close relationship with You that I can live in peace and be contented. I am a lamb in Your flock who has been saved by Your unselfish act of love. You are my Shepherd who watches over me and I have learned to recognize Your voice. You provide a hedge to protect me from evil and harm. You are the strong, sound foundation upon which I have chosen to build my life. You are my dwelling place to whom I run for shelter when I am being overwhelmed by troubles and circumstances. As I have drawn near to You, I have become one of the lively stones that Your Word speaks of making me a part of Your body … the church. Drawing near to You gives me the hope and confidence I need to persevere.
As one who is committed to a relationship with You, I look for Your wisdom to guide me in making good decisions for my life. Guide me in paths of righteousness and show me how to love as You did. You are the Alpha and Omega who remains faithful to me every day of my life. From Your spirit beams a light that darkness can neither quench nor hide from. I walk in peace knowing that You are watching over me throughout my day. Lifting You up for others to see and come to know personally is the calling I feel that You have placed on my life. If I dare to drift away, I know that You are faithful to come after me and put me back on a right path. Within You resides all creative power and because of You the universe and everything in it … including me … has come into existence. These are only some of the reasons that cause me to be drawn to You and I accept Your offer. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
