Fear Not, For I Am With You

My Gracious Lord, I know that living today means saying “no” to the dark and ominous thoughts that the Devil uses to destroy my future.  Before I close my eyes at night, I reflect on Your goodness and my blessings.  As a result, I will not fear the coming of tomorrow’s dawn.  I will remember that if no one else cares about what happens to me, You do.  I know that You will stand with me and shelter me from undue suffering.  By Your unfailing strength, I am enabled to overcome my difficulties.  Your peace calms my anxious thoughts and vain imaginations.  Therefore, I must come to understand that all I have is today and Your desire is to help me manage it.  I look forward to Your guiding me out of my turmoil into victory.  I will commit to follow Your Word by focusing on whatever is honorable … just … pure … pleasant, and commendable … for they lift my spirit and give me hope.  As a result, Your peace transcends my life and sustains me.

Help me remember that life is about choices.  I can choose to obey and trust You or rebel and live in fear.  I can choose to move on through the storm, or I can stay in it and be crushed.  I can accept things as they are and do nothing to change them, or I can seek You and plot a new course.  Help me to see that fretting only makes things worse.  For I know that if I give it my best and try to find contentment with my circumstances, there is little chance that I can be overcome by fear and failure.  I never want to feel that my labors are in vain.  It may seem like it sometimes but to the contrary, it is better than doing nothing because I learn a lot along the way.  I reject the urge to become a worrier and make myself prone to discouragement.  Instead, I must believe that all things are possible through You … even my impossibilities.  I am thankful for the fact that when the fires of life come upon me … You keep me cool and confident in dealing with them.

Help me, Lord, to remain cheerful in all circumstances … knowing that if I persevere and endure, You will make a way to solve my problems.  I would rather remain cheerful and hopeful than sad and discouraged.  I promise to do everything I can to make myself strong and resilient.  I will count on You to help me through the times I cannot make it alone.  Help me understand that my tears are not a sign of weakness, rather a washing away of my heaviness and sadness.  Convince me that ignoring problems does not fix them.  Help me identify them, seek Your counsel on how to resolve them and count on Your resourcefulness to help me deal with them.  I want to be more effective in utilizing the tool of fasting as a means to see and understand Your will more clearly.  When my load gets heavy, I will flee from worry and doubt and run to Your open arms … knowing I should not fear for You are with me.  And, it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Isaiah 41:10 Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
