Gaining Knowledge, Wisdom, and Skills

Most Wise God, how utterly trivial is what I know when compared to what You Know. Life is filled with complexities, situations, and unanswered questions that my mind cannot resolve. As I observe the world, the more I see contradictions and double standards. The more information that I gather, the more imperfection I see around me … and the more evil becomes evident to me. It seems that as I gain earthly knowledge, it leaves me feeling empty and unsatisfied. The more I question … the more I explore motives … the more I look for satisfaction in what I know … the more incomplete I feel. When I search for human knowledge and ignore You, it only highlights my dilemma because I cannot find answers without Your perspectives and solutions. I search for meaning for my life and conclude there is none without You. I must look only to You to find real truth.

Wisdom is my ability to apply the things I learn from You to create a meaningful life. I have come to understand that wisdom is better than foolishness and light is better than darkness and a wise man chooses to walk in the light. If I learn to do as You instruct me, I will find happiness and fulfillment. There is nothing wiser than to live for You and unselfishly serve my fellow man. Your wisdom is like an inheritance that enriches me and gives me many benefits. Your wisdom is a shelter that preserves my life from danger and chaos. Your wisdom gives me the power to overcome evil and sin. Your wisdom is profound and far from me … but as I draw closer to You, humble myself and seek more of You … I will learn to apply Your principles in a way that benefits me and those around me. Gaining Godly wisdom is the ability to see life from Your perspective and choose the course of action that You’d take.

Knowledge and wisdom guide me into the development of skills I can use to make my life and those around me better. My skills must be ones that I use effectively, proficiently and are significant enough to have a lasting impact on others. When You gave me life, You gave me skills and abilities to use in furthering Your Kingdom. As I gain knowledge about You and Your goals for mankind, I will better understand the skills You envisioned for me when I came into the world. Development of my skills will require discernment, understanding and good judgement. Your desire is for me to use my skills to make a difference for You. Becoming skillful will require persistent and meaningful study. I am sure the Holy Spirit is up to the task. I must come to recognize where a problem exists and use my skills to solve it. And its in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Ecclesiastes 12:9-10 Not only was the Teacher wise, but He also imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs. The Teacher searched to find the right words and what He wrote was upright and true.
