Most Holy One, You are my lamp of learning whose light illuminates my understanding. Teach me to choose wisely and live-in accordance with Your commands. Kindle within me a desire to know You better and walk in Your ways. As I search for Your truth, purge me of the things that are impure and self-serving. I want to understand what You know and put it into practice in my life. I want to become closer to You so that over time Your ways will become my ways. My desire is to move in unity with Your will. I know that everything I learn from You will cause me to flourish and grow. Through the abundance of Your grace, my ability to assimilate what You know has no bounds except those that I put on it. Each day I search Your Word for the knowledge that will shape my life and lead me in the way I am to go. As I grow in faith, I know I will become a better witness for You and bear much fruit.
As You flood my life with Your light and truth, I will find peace and make good choices. Your words give me the hope and encouragement I need to be successful. Turn my attention toward Your righteous will and holy ways. Shape me and form me into the person You intended when I was given life. I want to develop a rhythm and pace that will help me run my race successfully. Renew my mind with Your words so that I can overcome the yearnings of my flesh. My spirit will always side with You … my flesh will want to rebel from You … therefore, my mind is where the battle for my life is fought. If I learn Your ways and do them, I know my life will be prosperous and fulfilling. Within You are the answers to the issues of life that tend to stifle me. Teach me the things You know so I can succeed and rise above the circumstances of each day.
Your desire is for me to act in love and join myself to other believers. Unity is at the heart of what You want from Your church. I, like other of Your followers, feel like my ways are the better ones. Reality tells me that Your ways are the only “real” ways to accomplish good and all believers must come to understand that conformity and cooperation make things go better in Your Kingdom. Come into my life to fill it with more of You. Fill me with understanding and wisdom so that I can walk in step with You as one. In a world filled with evil, trials and stumbling blocks I need Your wisdom and guidance. If that is to happen, I must give up my personal agendas, humbly submit to You, search for “real” truth, and become a doer of Your Word. You are the fountain of knowledge and wisdom and I can count on You to show me the better way. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
