Get Happy!

Dear Lord, help me come to realize that my happiness is not dependent on how much I have, how much power I wield or the influence I possess.  Instead, it comes from being a kind and fair person, one who is satisfied with his place in the world, one who is at peace with what he has and covets nothing that others possess and is head over heels in love with You.  My happiness is not contingent on the circumstances I encounter … rather, in spite of them.  Knowing who I am, understanding Your calling on my life and loving unconditionally those You’ve put into my life are the things from which my well-being and contentment flow.  Walking uprightly and emulating Your example brings me fulfillment.  There is no greater honor that I can strive for than becoming Your child and serving Your will.

My happiness should not be based on what the world offers but, instead, what You have offer to me … love, mercy, grace, safety, prosperity, the power to overcome obstacles and Your commitment to stand with me.  Happiness is a state of well-being and You are my source of that feeling.  The joy I have in my life rises up as I think of You and our relationship.  It gives me the strength to endure whatever struggles come my way.  Belonging to You produces a peace that only You can give and the comfort I need to recover from difficult times.  I feel blessed that You loved me first and gave me the opportunity to experience the pureness of Your affection towards me.  Misfortune, adversity, disaster, sadness and misery are all things that You have overcome and given me the power to overcome too.

I’ve come to learn that in the same way You are love … You are also happiness.  Paul expressed my feelings so well when he said … “in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”  If my mind stays fixed on You, I will surely find the path to peace, happiness and abundance.  With You accompanying me, I believe with all of my heart that the things I face in life will work out for good as I cling to You.  When I find myself at my weakest point, I am reassured in the fact that You will be my strength and help me nullify the powers who stand against me.  Resting in Your arms, I am free from all of my concerns because I know that You have solutions for every problem that I face.  I will be happiest if I can leave behind all the things of the past and look forward to the things that my future holds.  When I keep You at the center of things, I know I’ll get happy.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Psalm 145:6 Happy is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God.
