My Triumphant Savior, You have been inseparably tied to Your divine nature. You existed from the beginning, been with the Triune God, and are a vital part of creation. While the plan for creation was drafted by Your Heavenly Father, everything was made by You. You gave life to every living thing and at the appointed time came down to earth to give us a “new life.” You filled the world with Your light to cause evil to retreat. It was Your purity and goodness that shined into a world filled with evil. Many could not accept the fact that You were both God and man. You were sent so men would clearly see their sins and repent. What we needed was Your light to show us how to walk in ways that were pleasing to God. You came to show us who God was and how to walk uprightly. To this day, You are the One who holds everything together and have left us a guide for moving forward in Your Word.
In the creation, You made things out of nothing. Because I am one of Your creations, I have no reason to think of myself with pride. I only exist because You made me and gave me the qualities and talents I now possess. Because You reside in my heart, I have value and I am unique. Apart from You I have no real value and, if I dare to try and live without You, my life will come to nothing. When I live for myself, I abandon the purpose for which I was created. When I feel my life has become too complex and is going out of control, I need to realize that nothing is too difficult for You and You can bring everything back into balance. Because You have never given up on me, I know that Your love is bigger than anything I face. Evil has failed in every attempt it has made to quench Your light and as Your child it cannot extinguish my light either.
The person I am today is the result of surrendering myself to You and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide me in my walk. I like to refer to my “new birth” as “my new beginning” because the light You brought into my life showed me my need for a fresh start. As I follow You (“the true light”), I am shown how to avoid walking around blindly and falling into sin. Your light shows me a clear path forward so I can see the life I should be living. By removing the darkness of sin, I am able to choose wisely and walk uprightly. I am now a reflection of Your light (becoming a “witness”) pointing others toward their “own new beginning.” All of us who accept You enter a “new life” that allows us to respond to the call You have made on us. After responding myself, I can fondly think back on how making “my new beginning” has changed my life for the better. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
