My Faithful Lord, lead me and guide me along life’s way and take my hand so I don’t go astray. I need You to walk with me each day so I’ll do things just as You say. I have chosen the path that leads to You and I willingly submit to Your wisdom and guidance. Keep me from temptation and the deceits of my enemy who tries to separate us. For too long, I have walked in my own ways and found that they lead to nothing but heartache and misery. I know that Your way leads to prosperity and peace. The world offers me much and does not deliver. You, on the other hand, offer me much and You do deliver. I know that tribulations are a part of life that will not go away just because I have chosen to follow You, but I am confident that You will help me find a way around them. Being Your child offers me the benefits of peace and protection.
As each day passes, I am bombarded with relentless appeals to go in various directions. The only reliable way for me to go is through a close relationship with You. When I need someone to guide me through the maze of life, I know that I can count on Your guidance offered to me through the Holy Spirit. If I feel myself being pulled in different directions, I will try to remember that You are faithful to guide me the way I should go. In my most trying circumstances, I want to be able to respond with “into Your hands I commit myself.” In this way, I will be expressing my total dependence on You. I am assured to know that You will be with me to show me how I am to deal with the trials I face. I am confident that You will watch over me and counsel me because I have committed my life to You. And, if I start to pull away from You, I realize that You will have to discipline me.
I regularly pray for guidance as I struggle with decisions I must make. What I am searching for is a guide and guidance … some sort of map with landmarks and directions and a companion who knows the way and will help me correctly interpret the map. Your Word is my map and the Holy Spirit is my guide. You have given me these gifts so I can successfully navigate my journey here on earth. I am confident that throughout my life You have a firm grip on my hand and will guide me in the way I am to go. When my courage and faith fail me, I know that You will uphold me with Your strength and power. You are my security and sure Rock to which I cling whenever difficulties invade my life. In the same way that sheep depend on the Shepherd for guidance, their needs and protection, I depend on You. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
John 16:13-14 But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak what He hears and will tell you of things to come. He will bring glory to Me by taking from what is Mine and making it known to you.
