Learning to Lean on You

My Victorious King, when I am at my lowest, I know that I can count on You to help me bear my burdens. As I spend time with You and Your Word, I begin to reflect and pray. The result is my uncovering solutions which You stream into my consciousness. When my way forward is unclear, if I turn to You, I am gifted with Your insight and a plan for me to follow. If I obey Your instructions, my way will go unimpeded and I will not stumble. You guide me away from the traps that have been set by my enemy. I rest assured in Your love because You know everything about me and still have accepted me as Your own. I feel Your presence with me in every situation and trial I face … protecting me, loving me … and guiding me. Because You are omnipotent, You are everywhere and I am always in Your sight. No matter what I do or where I go, I can never be far from Your watchful presence.

The parable of the 99 sheep helps assure me that when I stray away from Your care You promise to leave the 99 and come after me to protect me from danger. As a result of Your esteem for me, I know that You feel I am worthwhile enough to search for me until I am found. What an extraordinary God You are to come after me when I have left You out of my life and lost my way. Because You value my life, if I feel despair, I will not give up hope because I know You will come to my rescue. I am also glad to know that when I am rebellious and want to be free from Your constraints, You will forgive me when I see the error of my ways and come home to You. It often takes sorrow and regrets to cause me to return to the One I know will encourage and comfort me. I am finding that You want me to see You as a constant, patient, and welcoming God.

My Christian life requires hard work. My devotion asks me to give up whatever endangers my relationship with You … to run my race with diligence … and to struggle against sin with the help of the Holy Spirit. To lead a victorious life, it is imperative that I keep my eyes on You. I will stumble if I look away or focus on circumstances and my surroundings. When I face hardship and discouragement, I can lose sight of You and my burdens become unbearable. At these times, I must not forget that I am never alone and You are always there to help. Suffering and enduring trying times gives me the experiences and training that I need to make my way victorious. The sooner I realize that I am not the only one who suffers or faces difficulties, the sooner I can find relief from my trials. When I turn to You, I know I will find the strength and endurance to come out on top. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Hebrews 12:3 Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
