Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness (4th of July Theme)

Most Gracious and Loving God, I feel special because of Your gift of free will.  You trust me to use it wisely and responsibly in choosing … good over evil … darkness over light … generosity over selfishness … and You over self.  If I use it to love You and my fellow man, I will be given a good life, lived in freedom and abounding with true happiness.  Hope,  joy and contentment will become a part of my everyday life.  Not only have You blessed me with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness but I’ve been born in a land founded on these principles and which are practiced to this day.  I am thankful for Your generous gift of these blessings on me and I plan to live a life so that I can I bask in them daily.  I appreciate the fact that You are not a respecter of persons and I have a chance (along with everyone else) to live life to the fullest, in the liberties You won for me and achieve a level of satisfaction with my life that leaves me feeling content.

I am thankful for Your sacrifice by which You secured my right to spend eternity with You.  I rejoice in the fact that I have been given life and have experienced true abundance in it. In newness of life, old things are passing away and many things are new.  No longer does sin dominate my life … nor do things take a higher place than You or my brothers and sisters.  By obeying the Scriptures, I am not inhibited or restrained.  They, in fact, free me to be what You want me to become.  In seeking my salvation and Your forgiveness, I’ve been release from the powers of sin and oppressive guilt.  By living Your way, I have been given the freedom to walk as You walked.  By trusting in Your love, acceptance and forgiveness, I’m free to live my life for You.  In the liberty only You supply, I am free to live unselfishly.

No matter how low I get, I will always try to express my feelings to You so that You can replace my emptiness with fulfillment and turn my complaining into rejoicing.  I take pleasure in the knowledge that You see my afflictions and know my anguish so that You can act to relieve my suffering.  I know that I can count on You to comfort me in my times of need and distress.  As I am filled with more of You, the bad in me will yield to Your goodness and I will be empowered to walk in righteousness.  Because of your kindness, my heart rejoices and I feel safe in Your care.  Since You have taught me the way I should walk, I will be strong and unafraid.  When I see Your hands at work in my life, I become encouraged and fortified for whatever might future will hold.  I have come to realize how special each day is because it is another chance to experience Your love and get to know You better.  I rejoice in the fact that I live in a land that, along with Your blessings, offer me the ability to experience life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.
