My Gracious and Loving Lord, I am grateful that You have called me to be a part of Your Kingdom. You are showing me that my talents and gifts are not about me. My yearnings and desires are not about me. And my purposes and life are not about me. My gifts, my desires, and my purposes should be dedicated to exalting Your name and lifting You up before others. Everything must be about You and achieving the goals You have set for my life. Before You departed the earth You left a command for all believers to go forth and make disciples, teaching them to obey everything commanded in Your Word. And, if I obey this command, You would be with me always. After Your ascension into Heaven, my contact with You is spiritually through the gift of the Holy Spirit. He is to be Your presence with me and would never leave or abandon me. You continue to work in my life today through His presence.
If I truly give myself to You, I must make You the Savior, King and Lord of my life. No longer should I live for what I want. Instead, everything I do must be focused on “what would You do” or “what would You want me to do?” The most important things for me to do with my life is to live like You and live for You. My selfish desires must be replaced by righteous ones like those You displayed while here on earth. My role is not to judge others but to share Your light with them so that they too will be able to judge righteously like You did. Justice is to replicate what You did and be fair and upright in my dealings with others. I must dedicate time in each day to spend with You, so I can increase my knowledge and learn how to put it into use. I must come to accept that I am merely a custodian of the people, possessions, and faith which You have given to me for safekeeping.
Standing with You demands that I put You above every other thing in my life. It is comforting to know that I am Yours and nothing can separate me from Your love. As Your child, I must be willing to accept Your discipline, so I do not go astray. Open my ears, Lord, so I may hear and understand the things You share with me. Open my eyes, Lord, so that I can see more clearly Your will for my life. A Life without You would be empty so that is why You have given me the Holy Spirit to keep my focus on You and remind me of Your unconditional love. I have given my heart to you, but my flesh is weak and wants to do its own thing. That is why I need Your help to understand the gifts You have for me to overcome my obstacles, my role in Your Kingdom, and the purpose to which You have called me. With Your guidance and strength, I know I can remain faithful to You. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
John 12:16 Whoever serves me must follow me; and, where I go, my servant will go also.
