Perfect Peace

Blessed Savior, I am happiest when I am able to live in Your peace as I keep my focus on You and trust that You will do the things You promised in Your Word.   Whenever I sin, I push You away … however, in my sorrow and repentance, the wall of separation between us is broken down and I’m able to draw close to You again.  It is Your wish that I stay calm in all circumstances and through prayer and supplication make my needs known to You.  The thing I am always searching for is Your peace … the one that surpasses my understanding but guards my heart and mind from the attacks of my enemy.  I am relying on the work You have begun in me to draw me closer to You and find rest.  I can always feel your peace as I contemplate how You crushed the powers of sin, death and the grave when You rose from the dead.  I now see You as My High Wall of Protection, My Burden Bearer and My Prince of Peace.

The words You have spoken, I’ve received with gladness and I’ve worked to implement them in my life.  As a result, the feeling I sense the strongest, during times of stress, is peace.  It is a peace that confirms Your presence in the midst of my turmoil and reassures me that Your power is able to do anything I request.  Because of my faith and trust in You, my reward is a feeling of safety, peace and rest.  I realize that when I was given a free will I was given the power to choose between trust and peace or mistrust and turmoil.  If I want an enduring peace, I must decide to let it dwell in my heart and keep it there.  I do that by letting You into my heart and putting You on the throne of my life.  Each night when I lie down to sleep, I am able to rest in peace because I know You are watching over me.  You alone are my strength and You bless me with the gift of peace.

When You departed from the earth, You said “my peace I leave You, my peace I give you”.  I have come to understand that the peace You were speaking of is not the peace of the world that becomes shattered when adversity or unexpected events come crashing into my life.  If I refuse to take ownership of every problem that comes into my life and, instead, turn to You for a solution … I am sure I will be able to maintain my peace.  As I learn to trust You more, I will be enabled to choose not to become troubled when difficulties crop up.  I will avoid becoming fearful when a problem seems too big for me to handle if I remember that nothing is too big for You.  As a result of my abiding faith, I am convinced that neither death, nor principalities and powers of darkness, nor any weapon formed against me can separate me from Your mercy and protection.  In the realization of all of these things, I now live in perfect peace.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is fixed on You, because he trusts You.
