O Gentle and Caring Lord, how wonderful it is to experience the peace and rest I feel in Your presence. As I am drawn closer to You, the softness and tenderness of Your words relieve the tension and apprehension that I’ve collected throughout my day. You wipe away my tears when I am sad and You gently guide me to places of rest when I am tense. No longer do I have to face troubles and adversity alone because I know I have Your love and commitment which stick tighter than glue. Fear and worry, my constant companions of the past, have been banished by Your faithfulness and compassion. In the quiet stillness of Your rest, I am able to regain my focus and begin to feel more optimistic about my future. When burdens close in on me and cares bring distress, I only have to look to You, My Rescuer, and I know that everything will work out for my good. In my simple faith, I find a peace that tells me You will get me through whatever I may face.
In order for Your peace to reign in my heart, I must remain thankful in all things, let your Word dwell in my heart and follow Your lead. Perfect peace will dwell in me when I can keep my mind steadfastly focused on You. By carrying my worries, stress and daily struggles by myself, I show that I do not trust you fully with my life. Through humility, I recognize my need for You and that You can and will meet my needs. I believe that Your peace is very different from the world’s peace. For it is not founded on positive thinking, absence of conflict or good feelings. It comes from knowing You are in control … believing my inheritance is sure … trusting that my destiny is set … and, being empowered to overcome evil with good. Your peace protects me from stress and anxiety. It comes from an understanding that it is Your divine power which has given me everything I need for life and godly living. I‘ve learned that if I love You and obey Your commandments … I won’t have to hunt Your peace, it will find me.
As I contemplate Your presence in my life, I find peace and rest. In Your love I will not be shaken … gladness will spring forth in my heart … and I will feel secure in Your power and might. I will bask in the generosity of Your love as I submit to Your discipline and learn from Your teachings. You have promised to give me relief from my troubles if I conform to Your will. I pledge to maintain a grateful attitude in whatever circumstances I find myself. I will be open in worshipping You and giving Your praise for Your goodness and mercy. I will strive to keep doubt from taking a stronghold in my mind. When I am weary and feel burdened, I will seek You and Your rest from my labors. As I follow Your lead, the meaningless of life dissipates … the wearisome toil that saps my productivity vanquishes … and, they will be replaced with focus and meaning. As I continue in my journey with You, I know that I will find peace and rest. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
