I praise You, My Lord, for you are my way, my truth and my light. From the beginning of time, You’ve had a plan and it will play out into eternity. Your way is the only way by which I can be successful. Your truth was first spoken by You … then recorded by the Prophets of old … and, then confirmed by Your Apostles and Disciples so that I could have a sure foundation on which to build my life. Your light has shined forth since the creation when the sun, moon and stars dispelled darkness. So how then do I go about finding more of Your way, truth and light to guide me? In order to seek, I must first get my priorities straight … and, to do this I must put Your Kingdom and Your Righteousness first. Seeking You means that I turn to You for all of my needs … accept Your Lordship which calls me to service and obedience … and, yield control of my life to You. Will it be tough? Yes. Will it be impossible? No. Many things compete for my time, but I must discipline myself to give You first place always.
If I am to be successful, I must ask in order to receive … seek so I might find … and, knock so the floodgates of understanding will be opened to allow me to better comprehend You and Your ways. As I am persistent and bold in pursuing You, I am convinced I will be able to discern the ingredients I need to produce a God-like life … and, come to understand how You fit in my life and how I fit into Your plans. Persistence will be my gauge for determining how badly I want to be more like You. Developing boldness will help me get past the fears and insecurities that hold me back from moving on with You. As I devote myself to asking, seeking and knocking, I know that I will get better in the things that help me in becoming more like You.
To achieve my goal of being more like You, I must stop serving myself. Since the life You gave me is a gift, I must search for the meaning of it. Selfishness puts the focus on me and what I want. My search for You requires that I leave everything behind in order to replicate You in all that I do. To gain the benefits of the new life You earned for me, I must be willing to give up all in order to attain them. I must cast aside my priorities so I can take up Yours. I must relent from pursuing my ways and accept Yours. I must abandon my wants and replace them with Your wants. As I do this, worldly things and ambitions will fade in deference to You. Help me become a seeker and not a slacker. I want my life to be consumed with seeking more of You. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
