Standing By Your Promises

Majestic Lord, You are to be exalted above all things. Your moral perfection stands out in contrast to the evil found around me. You are perfect and sinless in all Your motives and actions. Your holiness should become the yardstick by which I gauge myself. Since You are without sin, You alone can help me overcome mine. You are the only One I can count on. You have always been truthful, loving, and fair which means I will get a fair judgement. Because You are motivated by a pure love, what You want is for me to treat others like You treat me. I can be assured that You will punish my negligence, immorality and making things my god. If faith in You is to rule in my heart, I must trust that You will fulfill every word You speak. If I harden my heart toward You, my journey will be filled with misfortune and unending sadness.

Because I know that Your judgement is coming, I realize I need You all the more. No one can be saved without what You have to give to all men. Your sacrifice of Yourself for my sins was foretold in the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New Testament. If I submit myself to You, You will set me free from the power of sin and restore me to The Father. One thing I know … I cannot save myself. You are willing to redeem all who turn from sin and commit themselves to You. Salvation can be found in You alone and cannot be earned through my good works. You were sent by Your Father to establish Your Kingdom and, as the Prince of Peace, will rule over it righteously. My trust must be placed in You and not in … myself, my government, or my society. There is no hope for me unless I trust Your faithfulness. Trusting in You and giving You rule over my life will produce good and a place with You in Heaven.

As a citizen of Your Kingdom, You have promised me comfort, protection, and restoration. I have the assurance of a fair and just assessment of my life and place with You in the age to come. Hope abounds in my life and is based on Your compassion and mercy when I repent. No matter how bleak my situation becomes or how much evil surrounds me, I must remain faithful to You and Your calling. You try to protect me by warning me about the harm that will be caused by sin. To ignore Your warnings and calling will lead me into distress and emptiness. Your offer of the gift of forgiveness is one I should treasure and it should make me never want to violate the trust You placed in me to make good choices. Help me, My Lord, to be faithful to You in the same way You have shown Yourself faithful to me. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassion never fails. Your blessings are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
