The Author of Peace

Blessed Peacemaker, I can never find the words to adequately express what Your peace means to me.  As I learn more about You and search for Your truth, I’m gaining wisdom from You that helps me cope with my circumstances and feel peace despite the storms.  The wisdom I gain from You is pure (not self- seeking or having wrong motives), peaceable (filled with humility, calmness and rest), and easy to share with others.  My life, with all of its problems, struggles and upheaval, seems to be permeated with confusion, tension, turmoil and strife.  It’s a place where the Devil stirs up compulsions to escape through drugs and alcohol or become angry toward the thing or person causing my frustration.  The only one who can give me true peace is You, The Author of Peace.  You are called The Prince of Peace because You rule over a Kingdom where turmoil and unrest have no place and peace reigns.  I have perpetual peace because I know that when I come to the end of my rope, You will be there to catch me.

It is Your peace, which flows from Your suffering and shed blood, that has equipped me with everything I need to do Your will and please You.  There is no place I can go nor any obstacle I can face that can prevent me from feeling Your peace and achieving successful outcomes for my life.  When I find myself in a situation where I am unsure how to act, I should consult Your Word … meld Your mind into mine … and settle into Your peace … before I do anything.  If I do not seek You and Your peace, I can be fooled or taken advantage of by forces that are not good for me.  In times of great stress, You’ve promised to send me Your light to show me the way forward.  When I have the confidence of knowing that I am in Your will, Your peace goes with me wherever I go.  When I submit to You, I know that You have total control over everything in my life and I can be positive, at ease and rest in Your peace.

How do I explain to others this feeling of peace that comes from You.  Even You said it was a peace that is hard to describe and even harder to comprehend.  I think the reason for that is because it was meant to be experienced … not described.  When anyone seeks Your peace, You don’t want them envisioning what it is like … You want them to know what it is like.  I see it as a reward for my seeking You in a true spirit of humility.  In oneness with You, there is a prevailing peace that produces a sense of well-being … an assurance of being loved and accepted … a feeling of safety … and, a confidence that adversity and trials will not rattle me.  Your peace is like a “rescue dog” that is sent out to find me when I am lost … and, when it finds me … it leads me back to safety.  In the same way that You wrote The Book of Love, I now proclaim You as The Author of Peace.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

I Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace …

  1. It seems that every new day brings more confusion and disappointment in the ways of our world. We once could take pride in our representative government, though allowing for human frailties common to all mankind. Today there are more and more instances of our failures as a nation, but they all must be dealt with by going to the Father and trust in Him to help us continue on the path He has put us on. I agree that every observed challenge to the Christian way of life causes us to take comfort in Him who saved us, leads us and still provides for us in all circumstances. Thank you for this prayer of hope and that it is a reminder to serve our God and to share his message of love and salvation for all while we still can.
