The True Meaning of Salvation

Praise be to You, O Precious Lamb of God.  Salvation belongs to You alone and You give it as a gift to those who will believe in You as their Lord.  Because of Your unselfish work, no true believer needs to worry about being excluded from Your Kingdom any longer.  I rejoice in the fact that I am an “elect” who is assured of Your protection and a place at Your banquet table.  I am sometimes tempted to remove my guilt from sins by doing good works, debasing myself or blaming my slip-ups on others.  The truth is that once I’ve been washed in Your blood, my life is ransomed from the powers of sin, death and Hell.  Salvation, from the penalties of my sins, comes only through Your suffering, death and resurrection.  I understand that my salvation does not mean I will be spared from trials and tribulation.  Only that You have promised I will make it through them because of faithful and loyal service to You.

In the process of salvation, I am cleansed by the washing of the Holy Spirit in You blood.  My spirit, which was dead to You as a result of sin, is made white as snow and I am given new life.  It is difficult for me to conceive how Your blood can make my soul clean and white, but it has a miraculous power to wash away the stains left on my soul by sin.  White is a symbol of the holiness and forgiveness that I receive from You.  This cleansing can only come to me through Your death as a sinless offering on my behalf.  This is the picture You have given me, and all believers, of how we become saved through faith in You.  Belonging to You guarantees me of Your availability … to supply my needs, teach me Your truths, protect me from all forms of evil, guidance when I am confused or stray away and unconditional love and strength to make it through my most difficult times.

I must never forget that salvation cannot be earned because it is a gift.  Salvation is based on a personal decision to submit myself to You … my life, my will, my wants and my possessions.  Through this act of submission and conscious choice, I give You total control of my life.  In return, I receive Your gift of eternal life.  With that gift comes a responsibility to learn everything I can about You and Your truths.  I must then become a doer of those truths.  I must walk in Your ways and make them my own.  I must reach out to You each day and let You lead me along whatever path You choose that takes me to the place where I belong.  I must give up my personal goals and accept the ones You have for my life.  I must surrender my talents to You for the furtherance of Your Kingdom.  Your gift of salvation is the greatest treasure I will ever receive and it means the world to me.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Romans 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
