The Word Became Flesh (Christmas Theme)

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  Through Him all things were made and without Him nothing was made.  In Him was life and that life was the light to man.  And the light shined into darkness, but the darkness comprehended not.” (John 1:1-5)  As the Living Word, You brought me and all believers a message of hope and salvation.  As the ultimate revelation of the Godhead, You gave me a living picture of holiness, unselfishness and love.  It is You, My King, who holds everything together and sustains me through life’s mountaintops and wastelands.  Only You could create something out of nothing and You can do that in my life if I will submit it to You.  I exist only because You made me and I am blessed with all manner of blessings because Your supply is endless.  Since You called me to life, I feel valued and unique.  I know that apart from You I am nothing and, if I take off on my own, I am abandoning the purpose You had for me when I was made.

In your visitation with mankind, in the abundance of Your love, You brought us a light of revelation concerning who You are.  But darkness entered the Earth with the goal of blotting out the light You had come to give.  By Your awesome power and wisdom, You have prevailed so that evil will never overcome or extinguish the light You came to bring.  In Your light, I am able to see who I really am (a sinner) and I can accept Your sacrifice (of deliverance) so that I no longer walk blindly after evil, piercing Your heart.  As You illuminate my life with Your goodness, I am able to see my path more clearly and I am able to live a life of virtue and holiness.  The darkness caused by sin and evil has been replaced by Your brilliance allowing Your Word to become a lamp unto my feet.  No longer do I stumble over pride, lust, selfishness and the things of the world because You are the Living Word come down from Heaven to show me the way to eternal peace.

I give praise to You, O King, for You came in the innocence of a small child with the weight of the world upon Your tiny shoulders … but You were willing to give it Your all – can I not do the same for You?  You left Your grand estate in Heaven and humbled Yourself to become a man to save me from my sins … can I not abandon my sins to follow You?  You gave Your all, even unto death to save me from eternal damnation … can I not surrender all to accept Your marvelous gift?  The lowest and highest came to adore You in the cave on the side of the mountain … and, You received them all.  You opened Your heart to Your people and made a way for them to follow You into Paradise.  You came to us in the flesh so that we might overcome the flesh and experience the Living Word.  Because my life is filled with unspeakable riches from You, I owe You everything and will forever be thankful for The Word Made Flesh.  And it’s in Jesus name I pray.  AMEN!!

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.  We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
