Triumphing By Your Cross (Lenten Theme)

O Giver of Life, I give You thanks for reconciling me to Your Father and giving me the gift of eternal life.  At one time, I was alienated from You by the evil done in my mind and my actions.  But now I have been reconciled by Your death on the cross.  I am now Your beloved … without blame and free from sin.  To maintain my position, I must remain firm in my faith and not allow myself to be drawn away by worldly enticements.  I am now Your servant and must share Your Good News with the hurting and dying all around me.  For in You, the mystery hidden throughout the ages, is now revealed in Your coming.  Through Your sacrifice, the glorious riches of Heaven have been made available to me as a joint heir.  I know that I am safe in You because, while You are absent in Body, You are with me in Spirit and watch over me all day long.

I rejoice in the fact that, through Your death, You’ve been given rule over all things.  In Your power, I’ve been given the ability to reject the enticements of sin and partnership with evil.  Through Your death on the cross, I’ve been given life … one that is eternal.  By allowing Yourself to be nailed to a cross, You nailed my sins to it and, when You died, sin’s power over me also died.  Through Your submission to Your Heavenly Father, I’ve been set free to walk among those who believe in You as Lord.  No longer am I subject to being pushed around by the whims of my enemies because I have a firm foundation upon which I have built my life.  I can now boldly proclaim that sin no longer has a hold on me.  In Your power, I am able to grow and mature in Your likeness.  By accepting You as my source of everything that is good, I’ve been empowered to walk in who You are.

I am glad to know that, through Your work on Calvary, I am no longer doomed to eternal separation from God.  As You work with me, I know I will mature and become more complete … but not flawless.  Through the Holy Spirit, I will be motivated to tell others of Your love and how to avoid the influences of evil.  Your desire is to guide me and help me with the issues of daily life.  I take up my own cross when I submit to Your will, seek to learn from Your life/example and recognize Your power in my life to do good.  In the same way that a plant draws its nourishment from the soil, so do I draw my wisdom and strength from You.  The more I draw my answers and power from You, the less I will be led astray by those making false claims about what is true.  To triumph by Your cross, I must renew my thinking, keep my focus on You and study Your Word.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Colossians 2:15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
