Walking In Your Ways

Most Holy God, You have had much to say on how I could become more like You. Moses proclaimed that if I learned to obey You and carefully follow Your commands, I would receive Your blessings. He encouraged me to not turn aside from Your commands because I would reap the consequences of my disobedience. Joshua cautioned that I must be careful to keep Your commands, walk in Your ways and serve You so that I could prosper and grow into Your likeness. The unknown author of Kings tells me that if I do what is required, You will prosper me in all my ways. Solomon advises to do everything You ask. This includes listening closely to Your words, not letting them out of my sight and hiding them in my heart because they are life to me and, if I find them, they are health to my whole body. Jeremiah reminds me to obey You and walk in Your ways so that all things would go well for me.

Isaiah declared that Your thoughts are not my thoughts and Your ways are not my ways. This tells me I am foolish in trying to fit You into my mold. Instead, I must strive to make my plans and purposes conform to Yours. If I work with the Holy Spirit to make my ways conform to Your Word, I am confident You will stand with me. So how can I make my ways pure like Yours? I think it will happen when I start living in accordance with Your Word, spend time getting better acquainted with You and not neglecting the things to which I’ve been called. When I take the time to consider my ways, Your Word and the Holy Spirit will be activated to guide me in turning my ways into Yours. I know I can count on peace to prevail in my life as my love for You grows and Your Word becomes embedded in my heart and mind. A good life is a reward for following You. Closeness with You helps me build a meaningful life with You.

Your Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom and Your reign is forever. You are faithful in fulfilling Your promises and loving me despite my flaws and bad choices. You uphold me when I fall and lift me up when the burdens of life become more than I can handle. If I keep my focus on You, all my needs will be met at Your appointed time. Because I seek You with all my heart, Your hand is always open to me. You hear my cries and answer me in truth. You watch over me and protect me from being tempted beyond what I can resist. Why would I not want to follow You? Your Godly wisdom will keep me from following in the ways of the wicked and my weak flesh. It will prevent me from leaving straight paths to walk in darkness. It will discourage me from doing wrong and walking in perverse ways. Help me to become not only a hearer of Your words, but a doer of them. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Jeremiah 17:10 I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.
