Words Are Important

Most Wise God, by faith I’ve come to understand that all things in the universe came about through Your speaking them into existence.  Things were made from things that did not exist until You spoke them into being.  In speaking to a storm, You said “Peace, be still”, and all at once the winds stopped blowing and the sea became calm.  In the same way that You demonstrated the power of Your faith in doing what was seemingly impossible … You encourage me to believe with my heart and say with my mouth the things that I believe are true.  You want me to get past my troubles and struggles by saying … “be gone and cast out of my way” … so that, if I do not doubt and act as though I believe what I say,  I will see happen what I requested.  I can only begin to envision the time when I begin to speak to sickness, financial struggles and unresolved family issues and see them being cast aside.

Seeing things done in the power of God does not depend on my ability to do heavy lifting … instead, it’s my confidence and belief in The Heavy Lifter.  I am learning that faith is not knowing what the future holds for me, but knowing who is holding my future in His hands.  When I am confident in Your love … believe what You say is the truth … and, I acknowledge that Your power resides in me through the Holy Spirit … then and only then … can I pray knowing that You will move heaven and earth to give me what I have asked for.  As my faith and confidence grow each day, I become more open to Your concepts and teachings.  In my belief in the infallibility of Your Word, I am trusting that You will place within me the will to do the things You ask … that You will give me words and means to shake up things for the better … and that I’ll be taught how to become like You.

You have cautioned me that “out of the abundance of my heart my mouth will speak.”  In saying this, You show me that the words I speak can either acquit me or condemn me.  As I allow the Holy Spirit to fill me with new attitudes and motives, the words I speak will be filled with life-giving power and the ability to motivate others.  I am learning that with a submitted heart, true humility and a desire to obey You, I can stand against any weapon formed against me or anything that tries to diminish Your Lordship.  Because You’ve taught me prudence, I am able to make wise decisions.  And, through Your teachings, I’m learning how to discern what is true and, with Your knowledge, I am bringing health to my mind and body.  If I dare reject You, I dig a pit, set it on fire and cast myself into it.  That’s why I’ve come to realize that what I think and say effects things around me … so words are important.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit.
