My Everlasting Hope

My Glorious Lord, I pray today that the eyes of my understanding will be opened so that I might grasp the magnitude of my calling and the abundant riches You have stored up for me. In asking this, my hope is that I will find the way to a deeper relationship with You. I am not in search of a nebulous positive feeling about my future, but a complete assurance of a certain victory now that I’ve joined myself to You. The assurance I seek will come to me through the Holy Spirit who You gave to me as my comforter and guide through life. People of the world seek power for their security. However, I find my security in knowing that I belong to the One who created all things and was raised from dead. I am thankful that Your mighty power has been made available to help me in my times of need. There is nothing impossible for You to do, on my behalf, if I will only believe.

What I need for a successful life is the hope and peace that can only be found in You. I know that I can count on You to ease the struggles in my life, take away the pains I feel in my heart, heal my mental and physical ailments and renew my strength when I become weary. I am most thankful for my gift of salvation and I appreciate the many blessings You bestow on me. In my most trying times, I rejoice in knowing that I am not alone and You are with me. Make me a depository of Your wisdom so I can act in ways that will be an example of Your goodness to others each and every day. If I hope for what I see, I have no need of hope. If I hope for what I cannot see, I must wait patiently. I know that as a member of Your body, You have given me qualities and abilities that will further Your Kingdom. Help me remain patient while I’m waiting to know my place in it.

I have come to believe the adage that says “it is not what You know, but who you know.” Believing this allows me to look forward to doing the work that You will do through me, see Your love made manifest in my life and give me the ability to persevere when things get tough. To me, these are the signs of becoming a true member of Your community. Rather than fear what might come upon me, I must trust in Your power and will to get me through the things that come into my life. I must never lose sight of the fact that You are in control of all things … and then, I must act like I believe it. When I give You the place of honor in my heart and mind, I know I will never be forsaken … no matter what I experience. Whenever my faith is challenged, I must rely on the Holy Spirit to tell me how to respond. All of this makes me realize that I have no future if my hope is not in You. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Romans 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not have, we must wait for it patiently.
