Words Have Meaning

My Wondrous Lord, with all that is going on in the world today the meaning of words are being hijacked and changed into something totally different (like dropping the word “woman” and replacing it with “birthing person”), I turn to You to bring back rationality to our words because I know Your words never change. It is totally human to use emotions and word changes for self-serving purposes. You require that my words be truthful and clear and show respect for others. You have assured me that everyone will have to give an account for every careless and misleading word they have uttered. By my words will I be acquitted or by my words I will be condemned. Within words is the power of life or death. I want to listen to Your words which give life … not those that separate, divide, and destroy what is good. Your words are everlasting and can be counted on as an anchor for my life.

When anyone hears Your words and does not understand them, the Devil comes to snatch them out of their hearts and minds, so they do not follow You. If one hears Your words and receives them with joy, and they do not quickly reinforce them through reading and meditating on the scriptures, when difficulties come into their life they fall away. When someone hears what You have to say but becomes conflicted because it does not line up with the world, they wilt away in the heat of “shaming” and become unfruitful. But, if I listen, internalize, and make Your words my own, my life will be full, and I will produce good fruit. When my stubbornness, pride, and prejudices line up with the world, they keep me from drawing closer to You. It is the gift of the Spirit that reveals truth to me and enables me to respond to truth and not what the world says.

You have taught me that I cannot live by what men say, but every word that comes forth from Your mouth. You have assured me that I will be blessed if I listen to Your words and do them. Following the leading of deceitful men can only get me into trouble. As I listen to Your words, allowing them to sink in, they become a part of me, and I begin to function in the truths that move my life forward. The words of the world ensnare and choke my hope, but Your words cause hope to abound in me. Righteous words free me from the power of sin to control my life and removes the clouds of deception from my eyes. The freedom I receive from Your words allow me to follow in Your footsteps. When there is no room for Your words in my life then there is no room for You. What I must never lose sight of is the fact that the words You speak are not Yours alone, but those of the Father. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

John 6:63 The words I have spoken to You are spirit and they are life.
