O Glorious and Majestic King, I praise You for Your goodness that abounds toward me. In You, I experience a joy that is indescribable which comes from knowing how deeply I am loved. Being close to You has filled me with happiness and given me an enthusiasm for life. Even in my hard times, I am able to view all things with joy because You stand by me. I pray that You will energize me with a zest for life that becomes contagious among others as they too begin to experience the peace and safety of Your presence. Teach me to delight in innocence and do not allow me to become cynical about things going on around me. Help me never lose the sense of wonder I feel when I see You working in me. Show me how to take delight in the simple things of life and count the things I cannot buy as treasures. Give me confidence that all things will work together for good in my life … if only I will believe.
Enkindle in me, O God, a flame of love in my heart. Help me realize that Your love comes to me in unplanned ways and from places where I least expect it. Fill me with a love that sees things through Your eyes … with forgiveness that is endless … and, asks for nothing but gives all. As a result of Your continually working in my life, I will be perfected in a way that will be convert my actions from service of self to service of You and my fellow man. Fill me with a compassion that accepts weakness without condemnation … the way You do. Through Your commitment to me, You are strengthening my devotion and love for You. Bless me with an infusion of Your love that reaches out to others … no matter where they come from … or what they’ve done. I am thankful for Your obedience to the Father who sent You down to earth as a sacrifice for my sins … and, in so-doing, You’ve set me free from the power of sin and death.
O Sacrificial Lamb, I am overjoyed by the knowledge that I am forgiven and You’ve separated my sins, in Your memory, as far as the east is from the west. In Your mercy, heal me from hurtful memories so I can become forgiving like You. Help me to be more understanding and not to be so quick to take offense in what others say. Make me humble so I can admit my weaknesses and confess my sins. Increase my ability to see pain and sadness in others … so I can respond to them with genuine care and concern. Transform me into the person You’ve always wanted me to be. Forgive me when I am impatient, angry, cynical, judging, narrow-minded and hard-headed. My heart longs for the quiet peace that only You can give. In all these things … love, joy and forgiveness … You’ve set my heart free and filled me with Your goodness. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.
