O Gracious Lord, it was Your love that gave me life and sustains it … and it is Your love that will take me with You into eternity. Each day when I awake, Your love stands waiting for me to start my day. Like the warmth of the sun upon my shoulders, so does Your love warm every part of me. I can feel Your love when I pray … knowing You are listening intently to every word I speak. All of the things around me give testimony to Your beauty … the colorful flowers … the green, lush trees …the tall, jagged mountains … the twinkling of the stars at night. And when I see a rainbow spreading itself across the sky, I am reminded of how colorful and joyful You make my life. I sense Your tender love as Your eyes follow me throughout my day to insure I am safe. I feel Your presence throughout the day and I am able to fall into a restful sleep knowing that You, or my guardian angel, will be standing guard over me all night long.
Because of the specialness of Your love, I never want You to leave my side and I want Your help in changing me for the better. I invite You to be an active participant in my life and I give You permission to take the controls when I’m about to run into a ditch. When I grow weary or begin to worry, I promise I will run to Your loving arms for strengthen and reassurance. Regardless of how big my problems seem, I know that Your love is bigger and will help me in resolving them. When I do not get a quick response to a request, I will not doubt because I know You have a better plan … and, I trust that You know what is best. As I keep my focus on You, I believe I can ask anything and, if it’s in Your will, I will receive it. I submit to the adage that … not my will, but Your will be done. As I walk by faith and trust in Your love, fear dares not come near and worry walks on the other side of the street.
I have come to recognize the specialness of Your love and the affection you have for me. As a result, I am grateful for all of the things You do to make my life worthwhile. A heartfelt good morning … a fragrant and delicious meal … a hug from my child … a bank account that has enough … and, the very life I live … all make me feel blessed above all men. When storm clouds gather on the horizon, I will not panic because I believe that You will keep me safe. Help me never take Your friendship, or the friendship of those I hold dear, for granted. Every friend I have is special because they’ve been blessed with God-given talents, their unique qualities and the ability to be Your hands extended to me. I am so grateful for all the things, large and small, that make my days complete and reminded me of Your everlasting love. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!
