Never Abandoned

Most Consoling Lord, I begin each day with two thieves stalking me. Fear and Worry are the two evil forces who seek to rob me of my peace, hope and faith in You. When I face difficult times, they come to fill me with doubts that steal my belief that You will come to rescue me. When cruel circumstances creep into my life, I feel helpless and alone. When people, upon whom I depend, let me down, I become disappointed and disillusioned. It is at these times that I should turn to You … the author and finisher of my faith. Your Word tells me that when I am weak You are made strong and I can count on You to deliver me from all my trials. The enemies I face cannot be seen but, so neither can You, yet You are infinitely stronger. In all my stressful times, I must count on Your promise to be with me and will get me through them.

When someone I love is leaving, their last words are important and lasting for me. When departing the earth, You said to Your Apostles (and all of us who would follow them) … “surely I am with You always.” As I go about serving and obeying You, I believe that You will be with me in everything that I encounter. So long as I remain obedient, I have comfort in the knowledge that You are standing with me. Because I have pledged my life to You and will walk in Your ways, I am confident that You will never leave or abandon me. You will stand with me through the actions of the Holy Spirit. He is Your voice and hands addressing my needs in these present times. The Holy Spirit is the one who maintains Your pledge to never leave my side when I need You the most. Through Your death and resurrection, You have become the spiritual King who came and overcame evil.

Even though I may think I am at the end of my rope, I am never left without hope. Even though I encounter sin and suffering, You have overcome both of them for me. My vulnerabilities, humiliations and trials are tests that I face. I must realize that they are opportunities for You to demonstrate Your power and faithfulness. As I persevere in faith, I have the confidence that I will find peace and rest in You. As I struggle with problems and heartache, it is easier to focus on the stress and pain rather than remember that You are the one with the power to deliver me from them all. No matter what happens to me, I have the assurance of Your standing with me. Only then will my suffering and sorrow depart. Whenever I have a need, I know all I have to do is take it to You and You will hear from above and send me the help that I need. And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!!

Matthew 28:20 … and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
