Thanks For It All

O Wondrous Lord, each day that You give me on the earth, I feel blessed above anything I could ever expect.  I’m surrounded by loving and caring people … I have the faith to believe that the impossible can be made possible … I’m empowered, through the Holy Spirit, to resolve problems for which there seem no answers or solutions … my life is filled with riches that cannot be bought … I’m filled with peace because I am confident that You can and will supply all of my needs.  When I see a snow-capped mountain or waves gently lapping upon a sandy beach or see puffy clouds floating across the sky or see beautiful, fragrant flowers scattered across the countryside … I am thankful that You’ve allowed me to experience them all.  No amount of money can buy these things because they have been freely given.  I rejoice in every opportunity that You give me to experience the beauty of Your creation and a personal relationship with You.

Even in times of struggles and turmoil, I feel Your touch and concern.  As I strive to become more like You, I can tell that You are rooting for me and offering encouragement and enabling power.  When I succumb to temptation, You come to cleanse my soul as I repent for my sins and misdeeds.  Even when I try to maintain my focus on doing good, I usually miss the mark.  In those times, You do not hide from me and, instead, cast Your light on to the path You want me to take to get back to You.  Sin seems to always be knocking at my door, but Your Spirit keeps pushing it away and provides a way of escape.  When I become heavily laden by the difficulties I face, You come to my aid (the same way Simon the Cyrenian did for You).  I know You’ve destined for me to be an overcomer as I remain obedient and show appreciation for all that You do for me.

In my heart and mind, I grapple with words that will adequately describe the deep feelings of gratitude I feel toward You.  There have been big things and small things that You’ve done to show me the depth of the concern You have for my well-being.  You’ve been with me at the high points in my life and the low places I’ve been.  Over and over again, You’ve shown me Your faithfulness when I could not offer You the same.  When I need someone to help me, I reached out to You and You were always there.  Sometimes I forgot about You, but You never forgot about me.  In times when I was too busy to show You my appreciation for the good things You’ve done on my behalf, You never walked away in disgust.  How gracious and majestic are You in all Your ways … how negligent and small am I in mine.  My greatest desire is to always show You my gratitude for all You have done.  Help me never lose sight of that and remain thankful for it all.  And it’s in Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN!!

I Thessalonians 5:18 Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
